Welcome to the
Jefferson Davis Hughes House
Once you arrive, you will
know this is a special place. Built at the turn of
the century by the grandson of Peter Hammond, Jefferson Davis Hughes, the
house was designed to accommodate his extensive family. The
Hughes home remained in their family until recently. Hughes'
involvement in the lumber business allowed him to use the finest wood and
utilize the talents of area craftsmen in building the house.
Three-quarter inch tongue-and-groove is used
throughout the building, with triple flooring in some areas. Upon your arrival at the
Hughes House Bed and Breakfast, you will be shown to your room to settle
while your hostess, Ms. Lee will ready your beverage
of choice, tea or wine, to be served Southern-style on the veranda. One look down the street and you will be reminded of the time when life was gentle and
all neighbors knew each other’s names.
The Jefferson Davis Hughes
House Bed and Breakfast is located in historic downtown Please note,
if you are sensitive to animals: you should know the Hughes House has one cat
and one dog on the premises. |
